Spastic Colon Symptoms - How To Prevent
Them
Spastic colon symptoms must be carefully examined by a
health care provider by performing a physical exam and
completing several diagnosis tests. But in order for you to
completely understand the spastic colon symptoms, you should
first get a clear idea of what spastic colon is. Spastic colon
is just another name for irritable bowel syndrome, or shortly
IBS. It's been estimated that around 20% of all Americans have
this condition, which makes spastic colon one of the most
common disorders diagnosed by doctors. Spastic colon symptoms
typically include constipation, abdominal pain and cramping,
and diarrhea.
Spastic colon is a disorder interfering with the normal
functions of the colon and it's basically a "motor disorder
manifesting irritability" that involves "many areas of the
gut." When diagnosed with a spastic colon, the intestines may
contract more strongly and frequently than they should and
that's why people in this condition experience problems like
diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain.
Spastic colon symptoms are usually made even worse when the
patient is under stress. But there is something like a loop
here because a person suffering from this condition will be
under great discomfort and inconvenience, due to the symptoms
which interfere with the enjoyment of daily activities.
Nevertheless, there are some well known methods of reducing the
spastic colon symptoms.
First and foremost, you should establish a healthy diet high
on fiber content. A person should consume around 30 grams of
fiber per day. To achieve this amount, eat a lot of salads,
fruits and vegetables. Also, try to notice which foods make
your spastic colon symptoms worse. It's different for every
individual so it's something that's totally up to you. Spot
those foods and remove them from your menu.
A very important rule, that you should follow regardless of
your physical condition, is to eat smaller, but more frequent
meals. This rule must be followed by everyone who wants to live
a healthy life. The worse thing that one can do is to eat two
or three times a day filling himself up like a camel. This is
the main reason for having digestion problems in the first
place. Instead, what you should do is try to eat smaller meals
more frequently. It's estimated that per one meal, the human
body can't digest more than 30-40 grams of protein so
everything else goes to waste. Drink a lot of water cause it
helps remove the toxins out of the body. Drink about 3-4 liters
a day.
And last but not least, manage your stress levels. It's
amazing how many bad things stress can cause. The best way to
fight stress is through regular exercising and engagement in
sport activities. It could be skiing, basketball, soccer,
baseball.
